To increase user engagement, the sign up process was redesigned from a one page form to a ‘flow’ that the user could opt out of at any stage. Only the first screen was mandatory for signing up, but the others captured users’ preferences in a game-like way to give them more relevant content when they use the site.
The number of favorites users were indicating grew, depending on category, between 10 and 100 times. The number of users uploading images grew by 15%, and the number of users inviting friends to use the service increased by 18%.
